PTI deadline is delayed until December 2011!

As of May 2010, the PTI has pushed back Miles 4 (Show Human-Readable Information on Cases) and Milestone 5 (Encode Information in a Barcode) to the end of 2011. The PTI steering committee feels that Milestone 4, 5, and 6 should have the same deadline.

The PTI leaders intend on creating a pilot program engaging commodity and regional associations to address specific concerns with the PTI. The test-case pilot programs will be conducted along the entire supply chain of the produce industry and will be monitored by a working group appointed by the PTI. These programs are projected to surface new answers and provide best practices for the PTI.
